v1 — 12 August 2026
Effective from 12 August 2026. This is the version your agreement is recorded against in the app. When we change these terms the version string changes with it — see Changes to these terms.
These terms are the agreement between you and Amio. Using the app means you accept them. This summary is here to help you read them — it is not a substitute for them.
You must be 18 or over and use your real identity. One account per person. Your account is tied to your mobile number and is not transferable.
You own what you post. You give us a limited licence to display it inside Amio so the app can work. You are responsible for it, and it has to follow our community rules.
We do not run background checks on anyone. Amio is a way to meet people nearby; it is not a safety guarantee. Meeting someone from the app is your decision and your risk, and section 7 tells you how to reduce it.
We can remove content and suspend or close accounts that break the rules. You can delete your account at any time. If something goes wrong, you can complain to our Grievance Officer, and Indian law and Indian courts apply.
Amio is operated by Mihir Jain, sole proprietor, trading as Amio — a proprietorship registered in India under Udyam Registration Number UDYAM-KR-03-0736720.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and that proprietorship. By creating an account, or by using the Amio app or this website, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Amio.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your personal data and forms part of this agreement. Where these Terms and the Privacy Policy differ on a question about personal data, the Privacy Policy governs.
We record your agreement to these Terms against the version string at the top of this page, so we can tell which wording you accepted.
To use Amio you must:
We take the age requirement seriously. Misrepresenting your age to get onto Amio is a breach of these Terms and, if you are under 18, exposes you to real harm. If we find that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it and its data.
Amio is currently offered only in India. We do not represent that it is appropriate or available anywhere else.
You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time password. Amio has no passwords and does not use email addresses.
You are responsible for what happens on your account. Information you give us must be accurate — particularly your name, age and photos. On a dating app, accuracy is a safety matter for other people, not a formality.
Amio is deliberately not a swiping app. In short:
We may change how these features work, add features, or remove them. Amio is an evolving product and nothing in this section is a promise that a particular feature will always exist. Where a change materially reduces what you have paid for, section 9 applies.
"Your content" means everything you put into Amio: your photos, your bio, your vibes, your comments, your onboarding answers and your messages.
You keep ownership of your content. We do not claim to own it.
To run the app we need permission to use it. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for technical purposes such as resizing and format conversion, and display your content — solely for the purpose of operating, securing and moderating Amio, and only to the audience the app's own visibility rules allow.
This licence is deliberately narrow. In particular:
You promise that your content is yours to post, that it does not infringe anyone's rights, and that it does not break the law or the rules below. Do not post photos of other people who have not agreed to appear.
These apply to everything you post and everything you do on Amio.
If you are in immediate danger, contact the police on 112. If something has happened, please also report the profile in the app so we can act on it — but your safety comes first, and reporting to us is not a substitute for reporting a crime to the authorities.
Amio is hyperlocal, which means the people you see are physically near you. Think about what your vibes reveal. A vibe photo showing your building, your street, your workplace or your vehicle tells strangers nearby exactly where to find you.
You can block anyone at any time. A block is absolute: it overrides every photo visibility rule, removes you from each other's feeds, and ends any match between you. We keep a record of blocks in both directions, and that record survives account deletion — see the Privacy Policy for why.
You can report a profile, a vibe, a comment or a message. We review reports and record their outcome. Do not file reports you know to be untrue.
Where we reasonably believe these Terms or the community rules have been broken, we may:
For serious matters — content involving minors, credible threats, or anything that puts someone at immediate risk — we act first and review afterwards.
Some content is removed automatically, by moderation that runs on vibe text, comments and bios without a person reading it first.
If your content was removed or your account restricted and you believe that is wrong, you can appeal by contacting our Grievance Officer. A person will review the decision. Appeals must be made within 30 days of the action.
There is no separate in-app appeals screen. Appeals go to the Grievance Officer by email, which works whether or not you can still sign in.
Amio is free to use. We also sell optional products, subscriptions and entitlements.
Purchases made inside the app are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and are also governed by their terms. Purchases made outside the app stores are processed by our payment provider. We never receive or store your card details.
Purchases are generally final and non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law, or where we choose to give one.
For App Store and Play Store purchases, refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies — we cannot issue them. Contact the store directly.
If we close your account because you broke these Terms, you are not entitled to a refund of unused time or unused entitlements.
[TODO: A refund policy needs legal review against the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, which impose obligations on refunds, cancellation and grievance handling for entities selling to Indian consumers. A blanket "non-refundable" clause may not be fully enforceable.]
Anything you buy inside Amio is a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use a feature. It is not property, it has no cash value, it cannot be sold or transferred, and it does not survive the closing of your account.
You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings, or by emailing mihir@amioonline.in. Deletion is permanent and is described in detail in the Privacy Policy — including the small number of safety records we keep and why. Cancel any store subscription separately.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms or the community rules, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect other users. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and how to appeal.
We may also discontinue Amio entirely. If we do, we will give you reasonable notice, and refund the unused portion of any subscription you have paid for.
Sections 11 to 18 continue to apply after your account ends, along with any provision that by its nature should survive.
Amio — the app, this website, the name, the logo, the design, and the software behind them — belongs to us or our licensors, and is protected by Indian and international intellectual property law.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. That is all. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works from any part of Amio, or use our name or logo, without our written permission.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely and without owing you anything. We are not asking you to send them, but if you do, that is the basis.
If you believe content on Amio infringes your copyright, write to our Grievance Officer with enough detail to identify the work and the content complained of, and a statement that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
Amio is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the app — including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
In particular, we do not promise that:
We are not responsible for the conduct of any user, online or offline. We do not screen users (see section 7). We are not a party to any interaction between you and another user, and we do not supervise, direct, or control it.
Nothing here excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
To the fullest extent permitted by Indian law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of profits, goodwill, data, or opportunity, arising out of your use of Amio.
Our total liability to you, for all claims taken together, is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and ₹5,000.
This limit does not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any breach of your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 that cannot be contracted out of.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, losses and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your content, your use of Amio, or your interactions with other users — except to the extent the claim arises from our own breach or negligence.
We will notify you of any claim we seek to be indemnified for, and will not settle it without telling you first.
When we change these Terms:
We will not apply a change retrospectively to something that happened before it took effect.
These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
Subject to the grievance process below, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of Amio.
Please raise your complaint with us first. Most problems are resolved faster through grievance redressal than through a court, and for data-protection complaints the law requires you to exhaust our process before approaching the Data Protection Board of India.
Nothing in this section takes away your right, as a consumer, to bring a complaint before a consumer forum under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, including in the place where you live.
In accordance with Indian law, we publish the name and contact details of our Grievance Officer. You can contact them about anything on Amio — content, another user's conduct, a decision we made about your account, a purchase, or your personal data.
